Welcome to the first annual Gainesville "Old Florida" Birding and Nature Festival! Gainesville, Florida is widely known for its nature, sustainability and innovation and we want to share it with you! We are home to nearby springs, birds, butterflies, and bats! We have hundreds of acres of County and Water Management District conservation areas in which to go birding and hiking, two state parks, the Devil’s Millhopper sinkhole, Cedar Key and its surrounding scrub and gulf coast waters, Ocala National Forest with scrub jays and red-cockaded woodpeckers, and we have bison, wild Spanish horses and more. We we welcome you to our good nature and our exciting festival! This will also be Florida’s only International Migratory Bird Day event, which we will celebrate with children’s events Saturday and a celebration Saturday night!
Festival participants are required to register for the $25 registration fee if you are age 13 and up and the rest of the events are "a la carte." So, pick a photography track, birding track, or mix and match all types of events that sound interesting to you!
Thank you for registering and we look forward to meeting you at the festival and celebrating our birding and nature viewing opportunities in beautiful North Central Florida!
Thank you,
Terri Mashour, Executive Director
